Bio
I have been weaving for about 12 years. My maternal grandmother, mother and sister were all weavers and I have always been interested in making fabric but didn't really have the time or opportunity until I retired and moved to the mountains of North Carolina. Here I was fortunate enough to find Cate Hall Weavers at Tryon Arts and Crafts School(TACS) where I learned to weave from Agnes Sternberg and Barbara Haythorn. Later, weaving in a workshop setting with several others at various stages of competence, I picked up tips of the art from Suzanne Monroe among others. Now, I find myself actually teaching beginning weavers at TACS. I give nearly everything I weave away as gifts and keep things to use around our home. I have never wanted to be a production weaver nor do I choose to make things to sell. I just enjoy the process, the designing and the completed projects. WNCFHG has been a very important part of my weaving life. I have learned a great deal from other members and remember Teena Tengue with great fondness as mentor.
