I hand spun the yarn for this project from cotton sliver that I hand dyed. The scarf is knitted in a garter stitch diamond lace pattern with beads knitted in.

Mary Nichols Biography:

Mary Nichols is a fiber artist who has been knitting since childhood. She learned to spin in the mid 1990’s and now spins and dyes fine yarns and knits them into lace shawls and scarves. She uses various fibers and dyeing techniques to enhance the delicate lace patterns. She often knits with glass beads, incorporating them into her scarves and shawls.
Mary is also a weaver. She is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, Western North Carolina Fibers/Handweavers Guild, the Blue Ridge Spinners and the Spinners, Shepherds and Wannabees. Mary has instructed workshops at both the Southeast Fiber Forum Association and Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair. She has participated in the East of Asheville Studio Tour (E.A.S.T.) and is a regular demonstrator on her great wheel and various other wheels. Mary currently resides in Asheville, NC
