Circles In Nostalgia

Circles In Nostalgia, Fiber Art
Circles In Nostalgia
My freeform crochet wall hanging is designed in reminiscence of colorful shapes and circular images from my 1960’s and 70’s childhood. I originally purchased thick wool skeins with felting in mind. Yet, once I crocheted a multi-colored circle, I loved the feel and look. Thus, I decided to create a freeform fiber cloth with open spaces on a white canvas background (22” H x 28 W” x 1” D).

Fiber Art    22 x 28 x 1    $125.00

Bio
Biography

I recently retired from the faculties of the University of California and University of Arizona. Upon moving to Asheville, NC, I have dedicated more time to explore techniques in fiber, freeform crochet, bead weaving, freeform beading, and felting. Additionally, I began showing and selling my freeform crochet and jewelry, and I continue to donate my artwork. As a member of the International Freeform Fiber Arts Guild, I participate as an artist in creating a book for charity in our yearly challenge. The following summarizes my key participation in jewelry making and fiberarts.

• Exhibited a photograph of my crystal-beaded wall hanging in the National Arts Program’s virtual “ Make Art” Color Challenge in
2020.

• Participated as an artist (D Lynn Designs Jewelry & Fiberarts, LLC) in the sixth and seventh annual OLLI Art Market at the Osher
Lifelong Learning Institute at UNC Asheville, NC in 2018 and 2019.

• Participated in the National Arts Program’s “On Our Own Time” art exhibit at the University of Arizona via my submission of
beaded crystal jewelry in 2016.

• Workshop teacher in crochet, bead crochet, and beaded jewelry at the Kiwi Knitting Company in Tucson, AZ, in 2008 – 2016.

• Freelance teacher in crochet, bead crochet, and beaded jewelry in Tucson, AZ, in 2007 – 2017.

• Created a Graduate Student scholarship at the University of Arizona from a sale of my jewelry, in 2012.

• Donated beaded jewelry to the College of Education Alumni Association art sale in 2009, at the University of Arizona.

• Donated natural fiber hats for Chemotherapy patients at the University of Arizona Cancer Center and provided workshops in how
to crochet hats in Tucson, AZ, 2007 – 2017.
